I started playing at the drums at 9 or 10 years of
age. My first drum kit didn't even have a brand name. My
parents bought them at an unclaimed & damaged freight store in
Abilene, TX. My older brother and I junked copper and brass to
buy our first guitar and amp, an airline guitar and amp from Monkey
Wards. To this day that guitar was one of the finest instruments
I have ever played, it was later stolen. I played in a series of
garage bands, and then stopped playing in band format till I turned
16. At this time I started playing and practicing with the idea
of making a living at it. From 18 to 22 I did that, though not
much of one. I have played in 6 bands that I am proud to say I
was a member:
- Nova (a 3 piece rock band out
of Austin)
- Workin' Boys aka The Whore
Belly's (again a 3 piece)
- Gold Rush (a 3 piece country
band)
- Steel Burning
- Lution Drive
- Brazos Brothers Band
The Brazos
Brothers is the first band I have been with that is almost exclusively
a writing band, very few copy tunes. I enjoy this a lot, besides
that I get to play with three of the most talented people I have ever
met. Jack, Scotty and Rockin' Rocky Randall. I feel no
matter what happens I will always play with these guys, my brothers,
Rockin' the river bottom.
