Reload Record Company - About Us

History...

In 1985 Earl Musick, along with his wife and partner, Darlina, decided to start an independent Texas Record label.

At the time, Earl was heading up a local Americana band called The Unsung Heroes.  After playing the circuit for a couple of years, it was time to hit the recording studio, (his own studio, RockHouse) in Fort Worth, Texas.  Upon completion of the album 'The Unsung Heroes - Apropos', Earl and The Heroes needed to find a record label. They tried ... just not very hard.  The Heroes were playing a lot at this time and simply did not have time to pursue it.

So, Earl made the decision to release it himself.  Needing a name for the new record label, Earl came up with 'Reload'. Said Earl, "I suppose it came from pure tenacity, my philosophy is you never retreat, you reload!"  Hence, the name for our new record label was born, it would now and forever be called Reload Record Company.

Since...

Reload started out as a private label for Earl's music, but later added Amos Staggs followed by The Brazos Brothers Band, as well as John Gomez, Mark Merritt and PrinceRodriguez.  Of course Earl Musick is always working on new albums.  So over the years Reload Records has grown and has maintained a steady course, and is still growing day by day.

Reload prides itself to catering to Texas-based artists, believing that Texas music is an untapped, underestimated market that offers some of the best music in the country and the world.  Reload is not about the "mainstream."  We pride ourselves in achieving different sounds, from different genres, all with Texas roots.  We at Reload Record Company strive for something different, something unique, something Texas.

Our motto here at Reload Record Company is, "If music ain’t got an edge, it’s DULL!"
